Each year at the AGM, the members of GLA elect a committee. The composition, limits and means of election of this committee is specified in the Rules of CDAS Ltd, the legally registered society of which GLA is a section. All work entirely on a voluntary basis.
Their task of the committee is to make the site effectively work in a number of different ways:
- as a place where people can grow fruits, vegetables and flowers
- as a community hub
- as a refuge for nature and wildlife
And to do this safely and sustainably.
A wide number of roles are involved. For example:
- liaising with outsie bodies such as Dulwich Estate
- keeping facities on the site in good order and repair
- dealing with contractors
- ensuring supplies of materials (straw, logs, manure etc.) are delivered
- managing lettings
- keeping accounts
- managing membership
- organising work parties
- running gatherings at the hut
- ordering and selling seedlings
- running inspections
- keeping the members informed
