Running of the site

Each year at the AGM, the members of GLA elect a committee. The composition, limits and means of election of this committee is specified in the Rules of CDAS Ltd, the legally registered society of which GLA is a section. All work entirely on a voluntary basis.

Their task of the committee is to make the site effectively work in a number of different ways:

  • as a place where people can grow fruits, vegetables and flowers
  • as a community hub
  • as a refuge for nature and wildlife

And to do this safely and sustainably.

A wide number of roles are involved. For example:

  • liaising with outsie bodies such as Dulwich Estate
  • keeping facities on the site in good order and repair
  • dealing with contractors
  • ensuring supplies of materials (straw, logs, manure etc.) are delivered
  • managing lettings
  • keeping accounts
  • managing membership
  • organising work parties
  • running gatherings at the hut
  • ordering and selling seedlings
  • running inspections
  • keeping the members informed
